Took these just outside Capetown, South Africa in Jan 2013. Came across a stretch of road right along the beach where there were tons of seagulls "surfing" above the sand dunes. The wind was really blowing hard that day; easily 40 mph. The birds would stage themselves just like surfers do, then "drop into" the wind wave. I hung out for awhile and just kept snapping pics-these are some of my favorites. They really make me think of Jonathan Livingston Seagull.
